A lot of this work is for proposals: a concept that is not hardware yet, or a functional device that reviewers have to understand in a few figures. Illustration here is not a disconnected art pass. The figure comes from the same CAD model used to make the part — exploded views, cutaways, and labeled how-it-works sequences that stay true when the CAD changes.
